10 Fixes That Would Improve The Big Bang Theory

1. Quit The Sexism And Chauvinism

The show has fallen into some bad habits for the best of reasons. It€™s fair to say that the more academically successful people of the world have a tendency to be less socially aware. This is usually because true success requires sacrifice. The early years of the show were right to focus on this but character development necessitated moving on and giving the characters more depth. The jokes, though, haven€™t kept pace. Far too many are about overbearing women, stupid or useless men, aimed at stereotypes or downright sexist. Nobody says you can€™t have the odd sexist or racist joke, this is comedy after-all, but the jokes should be there to make a point, not to reinforce a stereotype. The writers, and the show itself, deserve better than that and the types of jokes employed over the last season were more cringe inducing than chuckle worthy. Thankfully the first few episodes of this season have shown a marked improvement, but having Raj€™s new girlfriend and Penny at loggerheads was all too predictable and cliché. The episode with Bernadette being up for €œSexiest Scientist€ was another clear example of a great idea that was slightly cheapened by it being equated to Amy feeling inferior. The ideas are there, it€™s the execution that falls short. It feels very much like someone on the production or writing staff is dragging the show down and whoever that is should be quietly taken aside and shot. The potential is there, with the show€™s premise and the quality of actors they have deserve better, and so does the audience. What your though? Is this all wrong? Are you enjoying the series? Sound off below.

I.T. Consultant, technophile and Doctor Who fan. I like to talk about tech, take films apart and make excuses for Doctor Who's continuity errors. No other show has the power to make me feel like a big kid.
