Too much of The Big Bang Theorys comedy of late has come from slapstick, condescending the geeks, the guys being under the thumb or hey, arent girls weird?. There are signs of improvements, but all too often they resort back to juvenile jokes. Comedy is at its best when it deals with real world issues and spins them on their heads or takes tiny details and expands them. The interactions between Amy and the closer friendship of Bernadette and Penny were interesting and fun. Having the socially dysfunctional Amy learning how to be a real girl would be sad and shameful in the hands of any other actor, but Mayim Bialik has the skills and comic timing to keep the character being pathetic in the true sense of the word. Looking at age differences in relationships, how those who have difficulty forming relationships can grow, challenging yourself to be better, all these and more are relevant to the viewers even if the prism through which they are viewed is of a bunch of scientists. To be fair, this season has been much better at this so far, but there is still a long way to go. There are only 2 seasons left, lets make sure the show goes out on a high.
I.T. Consultant, technophile and Doctor Who fan. I like to talk about tech, take films apart and make excuses for Doctor Who's continuity errors. No other show has the power to make me feel like a big kid.
