2. Jim Shannon (Terra Nova)
When Terra Nova was first being marketed to us, no one really cared about who was in it. We just wanted dinosaurs and that guy from Avatar to stab things with knives and become a villain. Unfortunately, dinosaurs were a rarity, so we were left with nothing but the Shannon family to carry the show. We received Jim Shannon, a guy who should have been interesting, but just wasn't (much like the show itself). It was inexplicable how a man who has just been reunited with his family after being in prison for years shows almost no emotion, even with dinosaurs chasing him. Sure, he gave the heavy moments lip service, but we were so bored by every other character on this show, there's nothing he could have really done to salvage the role. I'll cut the Shannon family some slack, however, because they had to work off of a very dull script. The problem with setting your show in a fantastical setting is everything else taking place in that setting looks very plain in comparison. As a result, a decent actor who could have grown into a compelling lead fell flat.
