10 Forgotten Movie Stars Who Were Saved By TV

1. Jessica Lange

Jessicalange600 Jessica Lange is a powerhouse actor, winning her first Oscar for her performance as a down-trodden soap star in 1982's Tootsie. She worked consistently throughout the 1980s and early 90s, garnering praise for pretty much every film that she worked on. When you look on her IMDB page, there's a string of prestigious nominations that chart her illustrious career. But a funny thing happens once 1995 hits: her projects become significantly more sporadic and low-profile. This lasts until the mid-00s, when she begins to work on a few well-received independent films. She may have fallen victim to the lack of strong female roles in Hollywood. There's an awkward age for actresses, where you're not quite young enough to play the leading lady, but you haven't transitioned into the middle-aged matriarch yet. Hollywood just doesn't know how to write for women in that in-between age. Regardless, she's back with a vengeance on FX's American Horror Story, a horror anthology that succeeds in making viewers feel uncomfortable in the best way possible, as one of the four cast members who has appeared in all three seasons.
