10 Forgotten Movie Stars Who Were Saved By TV

2. Danny Devito

Frank Its Always Sunny1 Danny Devito might seem a little out of place on this list at first. After all, he did get his start in television when he starred in Taxi back in the 70s. But that was a long time ago, and most people can more easily remember his film career of the early 90s. Although his productions were met with varying degrees of success, he did several projects that got him a lot of attention and praise. We all remember when he paired up with Arnold Schwarzenegger as a set of hilariously mismatched twins (in the aptly named Twins), and his turn as Matilda Wormwood's malicious father. But as time went by, these stand-out roles became few and far between. Until the darkly comedic It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia came along, a show marketed almost exclusively for people with a twisted sense of humor, where he finally found a new home. He played Dennis and Dee's genuinely terrible father Frank, and all of a sudden he found the role that fit him like a glove. Frank is such a grubby little scumbag...he's the kind of guy who carries sausages around in his shirt pocket just in case he needs a snack. But when you watch it, a light bulb goes off and you suddenly realize this was what Danny Devito was put on Earth to do. It's Always Sunny introduced him to a new generation of viewers, and single-handedly revitalized his career.
