4. Ross Hates AND Loves Ice Cream

Ross is Friends' most perplexing character, requiring several repeat watches of the series to fully fathom each chestnut of his backstory development. He's insecure, a serial husband, and at times a debatably dubious human being, evident when he strikes up a relationship with Elizabeth Stevens (Alexandra Holden), at the time one of Ross' students. It's sketchy and a crude depiction of Ross' underlying character.

His and Elizabeth's relationship is the centric plot point of the season six episode The One Where Ross Dates A Student, during which they grab some ice cream together. This, however, later becomes one of the Geller son's more irrelevant plot holes, as in season seven's eighth episode The One Where Chandler Doesn't Like Dogs, he describes ice cream as "too cold" and harmful to his teeth, purportedly loathing the frozen treat. It's ridiculous and nonsensical, lacking the requirement to be a mentioned plot point; the episode focused on Chandler's apprehension towards dogs, not Ross' towards ice cream.

It's an inconsequential piece of his story as it offers no benefit to following it. It's evidently a transgression on the writers' part and nothing more, though it isn't an exclusive example of Ross being absentminded regarding his past admittances...
