1. Bender
Bender Bending Rodriguez is a bending unit hired for the Planet Express crew for which he literally does almost nothing apart from cook meals with enough salt in to be classed as fatal. That's how you knock it up a notch! Known for his "in-your-face interface", he's a foul-mouthed robot that loves beer, anything smokeable, electricity, hookers and stealing. Not bad for a robot that's only 15-years-old. Deep down, though, Bender can be quite sensitive, who craves for his friendship with Fry and harbours a passion for folk music. His devil may care attitude makes him a Futurama favourite, and without him it wouldn't be the future. He's endlessly quotable and his journey has seen him have a romance with a spaceship, become an ultimate robot fighter, is banished to robot hell, and even have a son in Bender's later years (not including all of those orphans that he takes care of in season 3). Very few people would argue against Bender being Futurama's funniest ever character - now bite his shiny, metal ass.

First appearance: In the very first episode, 'Space Pilot 3000', Fry is waiting in line for what he believes to be a phone booth. It turns to be a New New York suicide booth, and after they both survive the ordeal, Fry's wish of having a robot for a best friend instantly becomes true as Bender helps him on the run from Leela and her delivery boy career chip.
Greatest episode: This is more difficult than choosing your favourite offspring, almost any could be chosen. 'The Honking' from season 3 is a safe bet, in which Bender is possessed by a were-car and thus turns into one himself. When it is revealed that he will try and murder his best friend, Fry is jealous when Bender first tries to run over Leela, but then makes it up to Fry by attempting to murder him soon after.
