Aside from Melisandre’s abortive ‘prince that was promised’ prophecy, she also spoke over Arya only this season, foretelling that she will close brown, blue and green eyes. Brown is the Freys, blue is the Night King… but Arya hasn’t closed any other eyes at all. Perhaps that’s a story earmarked for a spin-off, but it’s still an awkward omission from the finale, given the emphasis placed on it.

And Jon's parentage? Completely ignored. What was the point of having that big reveal, setting up a possible rivalry with Daenerys for the throne, only to avoid mentioning it at all in the finale? What about those letters Varys sent out about Jon’s royal blood?

We also still have little to no idea what the Night King was planning, what his motivations were, or what his connection was to the Three Eyed Raven - just some horse puckey about wanting to end all of our stories. Apparently, with the destruction of the White Walkers this is no longer important information, despite being a driving plot for seven years.

Come to that, like Tyrion we still don’t really know anything about the Three Eyed Raven himself. We know that Bran can see and influence the past and the future, and that he foresaw being offered the crown (“why do you think I came all this way?”). Clearly he foresaw the rest as well: all of the deaths and failures that led to what happened to both Daenerys and King’s Landing. Can he be trusted?
