10 Genuinely Horrible TV Shows Based On Popular Movies

3. Baby Talk

One can only imagine that the shtick of a baby having an interior monologue with a grown-up man's voice, while funny for the two hours of a single film, would probably start to grate on the nerves when stretched out over the course of several episodes. Baby Talk was loosely based on the John Travolta-Kirstie Alley film Look Who's Talking, with Julia Duffy taking on the role of the mother and Tony Danza playing the voice of Baby Mickey. The show ran like this for one season, after which Julia Duffy was replaced by Mary Page Keller, the entire supporting cast had been written out (including a young George Clooney, who was featured heavily in the first season), and the characters suddenly moved to a trendy, upscale Manhattan apartment. This led to obvious confusion from the audience and outright loathing from the critics, who had been harsh on the show from the very beginning. The biggest issue with the premise of the show was that it entirely centered around the talking baby, whereas the film succeeded because Kirstie Alley as the single mother was very much the lead figure of the show. After a lot of criticism, the show ended with its second season, clocking in with 35 episodes.
