2. Delta House

So what's the problem? Animal House was hilarious, surely any show based on it would be just as funny. Well...not quite. The thing that television executives neglected to consider is that the bits that were really funny in Animal House were also the sort of stuff that couldn't be shown on network television. When you've got a film with R-Rated humor, any attempt to soften it up is going to ruin the whole thing. Unlike a lot of other shows on this list, Delta House actually managed to get several of the original cast members on board -- John Vernon (Dean Wormer), Stephen Furst (Flounder), Bruce McGill (D-Day), and James Widdoes (Hoover) all make appearances. But let's not kid ourselves, we all know who the real star of Animal House was: John Belushi. And they didn't have him. Instead, they cast Josh Mostel in the role of Blotto, the brother of Bluto. This, in addition to the watered down material deemed suitable for family viewing, hastened its departure from the airwaves, lasting only thirteen episodes.
