10 Gore Anime That Will Give You Nightmares

With a title like that, it comes as no surprise that Corpse Party manages to find its way onto this list. Although standing at only four episodes long, this short series will grasp you by the throat and demand your attention, thanks to the high-stakes scenario, strong animation and heaps of gory content.

Tortured Souls is an adaptation of the Corpse Party game series. It follows a group of schoolmates who decide to perform a ritual to help their friend as he transfers school. However, instead of bringing good fortune, it transports them to the mysterious Heavenly Host Academy, where the children are viciously hunted down by the spirits of the murdered students of the school.

There are many shocking moments, with some of the most significant coming from the use of scissors in ways they were never intended to be used. There's stabbing, disembowelment, tongue removal, and so much more in this densely packed short series of gore.

What makes it all worse is the fact that the leading characters are so young. Like Another, seeing children being brutalised, tortured and stabbed to death is a disgusting sight, and it's especially tough as they are so likeable.
