First and foremost, the anime is hilarious. Watching the Devil and his companion try so hard to make a decent living, from learning how to budget to finding the best deals when grocery shopping, is genuinely not only funny, but almost heartwarming.
What elevates it though is its character work. As we see our demonic protagonist go from someone wanting to conquer all of humanity to a person willing to put their life on the line for those they care about, it's hard not to feel as though that if the literal Devil can change for the better, then so can anyone.
