10 Great DC Comics Characters The Arrowverse Has Totally Wasted
8. Red Tornado
What? Red Tornardo has turned up in the Arrowverse? Yup, and the fact that it's hard to remember this even happened just shows how poorly he was used.
In the comics, Red Tornado is a heroic android and a long-running member of the Justice League. Though originally created by T.O. Morrow (see what they did there?) to destroy the League, Tornado became a good guy. He's a brilliantly layered character, a sort of Pinocchio-type who wishes to become truly human.
In the Arrowverse, though, this character with decades of history was reduced to a villain-of-the-week role. In Supergirl season one episode Red Faced, he was simply a characterless robot Kara punched about a bit. It's a real shame as Red Tornado is the sort of second-tier hero that the Arrowverse could get away with using, as it is unlikely that he will pop up in the DCEU anytime soon.
Likewise, Legends of Tomorrow has also wasted the opportunity to include the original Golden Age Red Tornado, a crazy old lady called Ma Hunkel who wears a pot on her head, after her helmet appeared on the Waverider. She's a ridiculous creation, but she would be fun to see on the show.
