7. Ashes To Ashes

Once you've finished binging Life on Mars, you can move on to its 2008 sequel, Ashes to Ashes. Sure, John Simm has regenerated into Keeley Hawes, but Tyler's former compatriots remain present and correct. This time around, the action occurs in London, and the protagonist arrives in the 1980s after being shot- an even less appealing prospect than a collision.

Otherwise, the premise remains the same, as do the anachronisms- if there isn't an official I Spy book of continuity errors to play along with at home, perhaps it's worth spending a bit of time while you're isolating making one before you start watching. Britbox offers us all three seasons of the police procedural drama featuring a woman out of time, who awakes in 1981 to find herself surrounded by those whose case files she studied, and Tyler unaccounted for- not even a message from Action Man saying he's happy.

It's sci-fi in the same sense as Quantum Leap, but without a cigar-smoking hologram; this added twist to your average banal crime drama makes Ashes to Ashes, like Life On Mars before it, entertaining viewing. Who knows, the longer this social isolation fiasco continues, the more you may find yourself longing to be in the midst of the 1980s yourself.

I'm perfectly sane, or so the voices tell me. British, sarcastic, president of the European Slinky Association, have a tendency to lie when listing things about myself. 100% guilty of being a massive geek obsessed with Doctor Who, Harry Potter and video games. If you can't find me on the internet, I'm probably locked in a room playing Spyro the Dragon on my old PlayStation, or blowing everything to smithereens with a concrete donkey on Worms: Armageddon.
