10 Great TV Shows Starring The Cast Of Friends
6. Go On
Matthew Perry’s attempts at launching new TV shows have tended not to remain on air for too long, and the same can be said for 2012’s Go On. This is the best work of Perry’s post-Friends career to date, though; an excellent vehicle for the talented star and a show that was unlucky not to find an audience.
Perry plays radio host Ryan King, a radio host who’s attempting to readjust to everyday life following the death of his wife. He’s urged into a grief counselling group, here meeting a collection of individuals with similar backstories but disparate personalities.
It’s not exactly an unpredictable set up, with the closed off King gradually coming out of his shell and learning to enjoy his life again amidst the ad hoc group of oddballs that make up the rest of the cast. What it lacks in novelty, though, it makes up for with strong characters and performances, particularly from Julie White and Brett Gelman.
It’s an especially strong showing for Perry, though, who’s commendably subtle and invested in his work.
