10 Great TV Shows Starring The Cast Of Friends
3. The Morning Show
The jewel in the Apple+ crown (before Ted Lasso blew up, anyway) is this lush, timely depiction of a morning news show rocked by accusations of sexual impropriety on the part of its long term host. Jennifer Aniston plays Alex Levy, the other half of the veteran presenting team, who is joined by rural reporter Bradley Jackson (Reese Witherspoon) to revamp the programme.
Aniston had enjoyed perhaps the most prominent career of the cast, but had never tackled anything like this before. She’s more than up to the challenge, using her years in the spotlight to capture the plight of an incredibly famous, frequently gossiped about public figure. She’s unafraid to make Alex downright dislikable at times, a scheming careerist whose main aim at any given time is to prolong her career.
She’s often sympathetic, though, and is given room to grow over the series. She’s fantastic opposite Reese Witherspoon and turns Alex Levy into a fleshed out and believable creation.
The first season is must-watch TV (the second somewhat less so), and Aniston lives up to the star billing.
