Every show that Zaslav ordered erased from HBO Max in the name of balancing the checkbook deserves its own outrage, but none of their losses are as infuriating as Infinity Train.
Infinity Train is nothing short of a masterpiece, one of the greatest shows to come out of Cartoon Network - living proof that the spirit of creativity that defined the network's golden years was still alive. A show about grief, identity, trauma, and how we can either reconcile with it and move on or allow it to consume us. All wrapped up in one of the most creative worlds ever put to animation.
And thanks to Zaslav, it has been lost to history for another tax write-off.
Doing this to Infinity Train really shows exactly how the men running what was once one of the greatest studios in America view art in general, and animation in particular. It's a line on a graph, to be discarded if it goes down, and to be milked dry as long as it goes up.
Infinity Train, and every other show we've lost in the last few years alone, deserved so much more.
