10 Great TV Villains Who Totally Stole The Show

8. Robert Quarles - Justified

Vi3 Justified certainly knows how to do antagonists. Set in rural Kentucky and following Deputy Marshall Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant), we continue to learn Deliverance's lesson never to trust yokels. It's not all country bumpkins and moonshine though as a burgeoning heroin business brings interest from up north in Detroit. This is where we are introduced to Robert Quarles, a man with a flair for the theatrical who always has a solution up his sleeve. By solution I of course mean a gun which sits on a wrist mechanism and he isn't afraid to use it. Like all good villains his story is a tragic one, in this case involving being forced into child prostitution. This has left its scars such as his compulsion to tie up and beat rent boys to death. This is dark territory sure but the writers use it masterfully to show that this cool, calm individual is only ever a moment or two from exploding. Although he manages to best the show's awesome protagonist, his greed is his downfall. In a fitting end to the character he ends up being 'disarmed' permanently. Neal McDonough has been doing rather well of late, appearing in Marvel's Captain America and Red 2 to name a couple. This can only be a good thing as his charismatic performances make even despicable killers enjoyable to watch. Robert Quarles is certainly no exception.
