4. The Governor - The Walking Dead
Phillip "The Governor" Blake - or Brian Herriot as he's currently known - is a very dangerous man. In a show populated with the living dead, he somehow manages to be even more threatening than his zombie foes. He's a manipulative person who will resort to force if needs be; the only necessity he truly knows is his own survival. He has had one of the most interesting character arcs out of anyone on the show including his recent short-lived shot at redemption. He's most at home when in command of a group of people that he can use to get what he wants. This makes him the opposite of The Walking Dead's protagonist Rick, who arguably always does things for the good of others. These polarizing views have clashed before and look set to again which always makes for interesting viewing. Seeing how different people react to the apocalypse is the main draw of these shows and watching the battle between ideologies is certainly compelling. This would all mean nothing if it weren't for the man behind the eye-patch, David Morrissey. Turning what could easily have been caricature into a subtle, complex character he adds so much to the role. It speaks volumes that people are willing to watch what has become of such a villainous character in his own episodes and perhaps even root for him to change. Sadly this was not the case, but at least they've finally brought the bloody tank in from the comics!
