7. Toph Inventing Metalbending - The Crossroads Of Destiny
When the blind girl who can see through sensing vibrations in the earth calls herself the greatest earthbender in the world, you may want to listen to her. But don't worry, if you don't, she'll just go and further prove it by INVENTING A NEW FORM OF BENDING.
Such was the case of the two hapless bounty hunters sent by Toph's abusive, controlling parents to drag the Beifong heir back home. Because they are so hapless, team avatar isn't even aware they're being followed for most of the season, until they finally get the drop on Toph during the season 2 finale.
However, just as they manage to get her out of the city, Toph proceeds to bend the metal cage they trap her in, getting out while also trapping her captors. Since we never see them again after this, it's safe to assume they both starved to death.
Toph had already solidified herself as one of the most badass characters in the show, but inventing a whole new form of bending on the fly just hammered that point even further home.
