10 Greatest Avatar: The Last Airbender Moments
4. Zuko Confronting His Father - The Day Of Black Sun
The moment the entire fandom had been waiting literal YEARS for, and it was worth every second of that wait. Ever since episode 3 of season 1, it had been utterly clear to everyone BUT Zuko that his father never really cared about him, that Zuko was totally in the right to disobey him when he did, that he deserves good things to happen to him, and that getting banished was likely the best thing for the poor kid.
So thankfully, while everything else is going horribly wrong for everyone else on the good guy side during the day of black sun invasion, Zuko manages to eke out a win against his father by finally throwing off the shackles of trying to live up to his insane abusive expectations.
The way he just verbally dresses down his father is satisfying in a way that one could only understand by watching all three seasons of television that had preceded it. It's the culmination of a character arc you rarely get in so satisfying a form, in either children's OR adult media. The rest of the main cast would go on to label the day of black sun as an unmitigated failure in terms of what they were trying to accomplish, but for Zuko, this was a victory that would inform the rest of his life.
