Perhaps the most baffling drama ever to air on British TV, you could rely on Utopia to leave you in a state of advanced confusion after every episode. But when I heard this used as a criticism, I felt that people had missed the point. It never bothered me that certain aspects of it did not make complete sense. They were never meant to. It had enough clear plot lines and twists to keep you on the edge of your seat, while the murkier elements of the plot added to the atmosphere of disorientation and claustrophobia. And what really stood out about Utopia, what elevated it to cult status, were the visuals. Almost every shot could have been used as a promo. Here's a couple of stills:
