10 Greatest Disney Channel Original Movies

2. Halloweentown

Don T Look Under The Bed

It's fun to think back to when we all first watched Halloweentown, with no idea that in about two years, Harry Potter was going to blow our minds. (Yes, it should come as a shock to no one that the demographics for Halloweentown and Harry Potter tended to overlap.)

The premise of the film was simple: girl who has always felt out of place learns that she and her siblings are actually witches/warlocks, and their eccentric grandmother played by Debbie Reynolds (because of course she is) whisks them off to a magical town populated by witches, werewolves, vampires, ghosts, etc.

It's a silly, creative movie that also has some genuinely creepy moments, especially once the citizens of Halloweentown start acting all zombified in the movie theater.

Halloweentown was a huge hit with the kids, and ended up getting three sequels, which were decent, at least until the two older siblings went off to witch college and our brunette heroine got recast as a rail thin blonde.

Sorry. Not over it.
