Who's In It? Kevin Spacey, Robin Wright, Kate Mara, Michael Kelly, Corey Stoll and Mahershala Ali What's It About? A Congressman works with his equally conniving wife to exact revenge on the people who betrayed him. Why Should I Watch? The show which kick-started the onslaught of excellent original programming for the streaming platform also ranks amongst the very best. House Of Cards is perhaps the sharpest and leanest political drama of this decade; towering in its smarts, devastating in its corruption. A critical darling since inception, we have now completed three immaculate seasons with the hope of a fourth in the not-too-distant. Juxtaposing tone, style and formatting, the show feels akin to some of the very best cable programming usually found on HBO or Sky Atlantic; cinematic in both production and progression. Spacey is outstanding as Frank Underwood - a South Carolina congressman and Senate Majority whip hell-bent on executing he and his wife Claire's (Wright) plan to overtake the White House. When the plan doesnt go according to the script, the couple have to go to extraordinary lengths to make sure their dirty little secrets and lies dont come back to haunt them, so theyll do whatever they have to do to bury the truth. The teetering relationship shared between these two screen giants is intoxicating: endlessly watchable and entertaining. Sublime support from Corey Stoll, Kate Mara and Michael Kelly only sweetens the deal further. Vicious, manipulative and controlling, watching the Underwoods thrash against an onslaught of political challengers and sociological complexities will make you reach for the 'play next' button frequently.
