10 Greatest TV Series Finales Of All Time

2. Breaking Bad

"I liked it. I was good at it. It made me feel alive."

Leaving ambiguity at the door, Vince Gilligan provided viewers with a great deal of closure to his meth making masterpiece. A clean sweep occurs for the main cast with each primary character getting what they deserve: Walter's family will get the money he wanted for them (without know it's from him, keeping their consciences slightly clearer), the neo-nazis get taken out, Jesse is freed and Lydia's love for sweetener proves fatal.

Cinematic in its approach, the ending tied up 60 hours of slow burn storytelling without a single loose end. Perfect in pacing and intensity, it echoed the westerns of old that inspired much of the show's themes and characterisations to begin with. Despite his descent into villainy as the series wore on, Walter ultimately chooses to save Jesse, peacefully succumbing to wounds sustained protecting him from gunfire.

Badfinger's Baby Blue kicks in as Walter nostalgically wanders through a meth lab. The opening lyrics, “I guess I got what I deserved" fit the end scene to a tee. While El Camino was a solid film, it was never necessary. This episode closed Breaking Bad better than anyone could've expected.
