10 Greatest TV Shows Of The Decade... So Far

6. House Of Cards

Broadcasting The Buzz:

Adapted from the BBC€™s memorable 90s series of the same name, House Of Cards is the show that took us on the trawl across Washington€™s political landscape that we'd always yearned for. Seen through the eyes of Oval Office power-player, Francis Underwood, a man of Southern charm and underlying rage, this remake takes all the Shakespearean elements of its predecessor, ramps up the stakes and actually encourages us to root for a man not averse to killing his way to get to the top.

Major Players:

Without Kevin Spacey it€™s hard to imagine what this show would look like. This is a character that takes absolute relish in conniving and manipulating anyone on his way to the top. Every time he breaks the fourth wall to clue us in on his deeds, you can€™t help but feel as corrupt as he is. Equal praise should also go to Robin Wright, who is perhaps the show€™s most intriguing character as Francis€™ wife, Claire, and Corey Stohl, as hard drinking and drug snaffling state representative Peter Russo.

What Next?

Unsurprisingly, Netflix has already announced that a third season will be available next year, which begs the question: where does President Frank Underwood go from here? His masterplan is seemingly complete and there are no more rungs left on the ladder to climb. Solid plot facts are scant, but early reports indicate that casting calls are already being put out and attempts are being made for filming to commence at the Headquarters of the United Nations. So, it€™s reasonable to assume that Frank€™s next plan is dominance on the world stage. The horror.
