"Hello, Dexter Morgan." The words that tormented viewers of Dexter for years, as the Trinity Killer, a man Dexter had come to know as Arthur Mitchell, made his way into Miami Metro and sent shock waves through the series. It was official; Trinity knew who Dexter really was, the game was on. Among his many murderous acts throughout Dexter's incredible fourth season, this moment was the horrific lead-up to his darkest deed, when he murdered Dexter's wife Rita and sealed his fate as the most vile serial killer to ever grace the series. Played to perfection by John Lithgow, Arthur Mitchell was one of the most intensely crafted and realized villains on television. Part of what made the Trinity Killer so frightening was how real he actually felt, as he was treated with such care and precision by the writers. The more real a villain feels, the more terrifying they actually become, and Lithgow brought such a clear characterization to Trinity. Most fans are united in that Dexter rapidly fell apart after its fourth season, but there's a seemingly universal agreement that Trinity was the greatest villain in the entire run of the series.
