Perhaps the most terrifying thing about Gustavo Fring, played brilliantly by Giancarlo Esposito, was how unassuming he was. He perpetrated the concept of someone close to you being a monster, something which likely frightens all of us. Fring was a respected member of his community, a staunch supporter of the DEA and even owned a beloved food chain known as Los Pollos Hermanos. For a time, he may have even fooled the viewer, as Walter White tracked him down at his restaurant. You almost believe Fring is telling the truth and that Walter has made a mistake, which Esposito plays remarkably. His shift from corporate good guy to menacing villain happens right in front of your eyes, a subtle hint at the dangerous man we will see in future episodes. The ongoing relationship between Fring and Walt produced some of the greatest moments in the entire run of the series, from their tense stand-offs to their final explosive confrontation. It doesn't take much to imagine that someone like Fring might actually be out there, which was a large part of why so many viewers were entranced by him. It all adds up to allow Gus Fring to reign supreme as the greatest tv villain of this generation. But it's a certainty that there's a few villains missing from this list, so sound off in those comments and let's hear which villains of this generation didn't quite make the cut.
