For Walter White, watching partner in crime Jesse Pinkman slip into heroin addiction with his girlfriend, Jane is a step to far. It nearly ruins their business and it’s clear Jane has to go, at least if you asked old Heisenberg about it.
Staging an incredibly shabby intervention, Walter tries to awaken Jesse from his opioid induced stupor and instead knocks Jane onto her back. From here we get the horrifying sight of her violently choking to death on her own vomit. At no point does our favourite meth baron intervene, her death is a promising development for hsi work after all.
One of the bleaker moments in the series, it sets up what had been foreshadowed all season: catastrophe.
