Speaking of LGBT representation and symbolism, there was one gay couple which went right under the noses of Disney.
Sheriff Blubs and Deputy Durland are heavily implied to be involved romantically. They are known to have sleepovers and go on holiday together, and Blubs frequently compliments Durland and how much he enjoys his company. They seem to share the same interests and whenever Durland is in trouble, Blubs expresses great concern.
They have also exchanged friendship bracelets and are not afraid to embrace each other in hugs and putting their arm around each other.
