6. Grey's Anatomy - Lexie's Crush

Anyone who watches Grey's Anatomy is no stranger to the occasional character death, especially in the later seasons, as various members bit the dust through a bus accident and a hospital shooting. The most traumatic death for fans, though, might be that of Lexie Grey, Meredith Grey's half-sister. When Lexie and several of her colleagues, including Meredith and her on-and-off boyfriend Mark Sloan, take a plane to assist in a surgery, it crashes in the middle of a deep forest. Surprisingly, everyone onboard is alive, albeit some are more physically hurt than others. Lexie, though, suffers the worst as she's completely crushed under a piece of the plane with no way to get her out. Even if they could pull her out, it was certain she would die from wounds. Chyler Leigh, the actress playing Lexie, was praised by fans and critics alike for her performance in her final appearance. Many fans took to Twitter to comment on her tear-jerking death, made all the more tragic by Mark Sloan's heartfelt goodbye as she dies €“ a moment for which actor Eric Dane's performance was also praised. As a surgical show, Grey's is known for some fairly graphic imagery, but seeing a fan-favourite character die that way was almost too much.
