10 Horror Anime To Keep You Up At Night

To be fair, no other anime on this list does a better job at advertising through its title just how gruesome and gory it is, like Corpse Party: Tortured Souls. Another cursed school and a bunch of extremely unfortunate kids, the setting is nothing new, yet this anime more than makes up for it through excessive quantities of gore.

After performing a strange farewell ritual, a group of students from Kisaragi Academy find themselves trapped in Heavenly Host Elementary School (because ‘Hell’ or ‘Hellish’ would’ve been a little too obvious), a place in another dimension.

What follows isn’t much of a story, but more of a deeply disturbing collection of the most disgusting and brutal death scenes imaginable. Did I mention that we’re talking about kids here?

Only four episodes long, Corpse Party: Tortured Souls manages to pack in its short time enough nightmare fuel images to last for a lifetime. It may not have much of a story, but this anime will make you squirm in your seat, which is exactly the purpose of any good horror.
