7. Alien Shuts Soldier The Hell Up - The Outer Limits
Season 1, Episode 10 Nightmare (2 Dec. 1963) In this episode of The Outer Limits a team of soldiers are captured and experimented on by demonic looking aliens. The episode was very effective and very simple. There is hardly any set or decoration just a few bare rooms. Now, the original show was before my time and it may not seem as horrifying by todays standards but as a kid this was quite terrifying. During a scene where the alien first appears to one of the soldiers, it is just creepy as all hell. The creature (an Ebonite) has a cape and a probe that he puts to work. Its also a funny little thing to note that the soldiers name was Pvt. Arthur Dix, so when a fellow officer comes to his aid he continuously screams out DIIIIIIIXXXXXX! The show also features one of the greatest twist ending ever on a tv show. The experiment turns out to be the work of the military itself to test the loyality of its soldiers. M. Night Shyamalan, Im sure was impressed.
