2. Zeebo Wants His Damn Nose Back - Are You Afraid Of The Dark
Season 1, Episode 2 The Tale of Laughing in the Dark (August 22, 1992) Are You Afraid of the Dark was a kids show that didnt really seem like it if you were a kid. The show follows a group of teenagers who referred to themselves as "The Midnight Society". Every week they get together to tell scary stories and they each try to outdo each other. This episode follows a clown named Zeebo during the great depression who worked at a carnival. Desperate for money he steals the carnivals cash and hides out in the spook house. Zeebo is a heavy cigar smoker and accidentally causes the place to catch fire and ultimately causing his own death. The carnival rebuilds the spook house and puts a Zeebo dummy inside (as a tribute, I guess). Years later, a 12 year old kid (trying to prove hes a tough guy) steals Zeebos red nose during a trip to the spook house. Zeebo isnt having any of this and starts to torment the poor kid endlessly. From the balloons, to the phone calls, to that smell of cigars. This episode just seemed to include everything that would just scare the living s*** out of a little kid.
