10 Horror TV Shows That Ended On A Cliffhanger

7. Spooksville

The Terror
Hub Network

A horror adventure comedy mashup aimed at younger audiences, Spooksville is yet another forgotten gem. With a ‘mystery of the week’ format channelling some serious Goonies energy, the plot follows Adam and his friends Sally and Watch as they solve various spooky goings-on around their bizarre hometown. An overarching mystery of the plot involves Adam’s supposedly deceased mother and there’s plenty of time-travelling, alien robots and vengeful ghosts along the way. In the final episode ‘Stone’, we find out that Adam’s mother is alive and well - however by the episode’s conclusion, a witch’s curse renders Spooksville unrecognisable to him and he himself is forgotten by his friends. Bummer.

First broadcast by The Hub Network in 2013, the show appeared to be a critical and commercial hit for the network. What's more, the show didn’t appear to ever be officially cancelled, instead just left unrenewed. To add to the intrigue, series lead Keehan Johnson revealed in a 2014 interview with Sweety High that stories had been completed for a supposed season 2, including a demon dentist and other crazy new monsters.

This bizarre apathy to the property left fans rightly frustrated given the cliffhanger ending and has since seen petitions pop up to save the show as recently as 2015 (What do you mean that’s not recent? Stop lying). Currently, Netflix US has the rights to the show so there’s some minuscule hope the streaming giant could resurrect the property and finally give us some much-needed closure.
