When he was head writer for Doctor Who, Steven Moffat discussed how you know you've got a brilliant episode on your hands when you think it would have made a great movie. In the case of these TV shows, we can all easily agree.

Horror TV has plenty of incredible history, with a plethora of projects that explore ground-breaking and fun concepts. They have shown that the small screen is not a place to feel limited, as creators have plenty of freedom to take an idea and fully develop it. Despite this, there are often times when you watch a show and can't help but think about how it would look if it were a feature-length film instead.

All of the shows included in this article did a great job generating a story and were well received - for the most part. But there is a quality to them that feels inherently cinematic. Whether it be the brilliant concept or a specific approach to their cinematography, many of these projects generate something that audiences would have loved to see on the big screen.

10. The Strain

This show is the brainchild of Guillermo Del Toro and Chuck Hogan - the writer of the original book series. The influences from Del Toro's style are incredibly visible throughout the show as it is full of dark and horrible images that perfectly complement the storytelling on display. This blends smoothly with Hogan's novels that masterfully craft a dramatic and horrifying outlook on vampires.

The narrative focuses on New York City after a viral outbreak of ancient and evil vampirism. The concept of the vampire is treated less with a sense of curse and more something akin to a virus. This makes a fascinating impact on the way that the strain deals with the blood-sucking creatures.

The concept of a vampire vector known as strain worms creates an incredibly disgusting approach to spreading vampirism. It makes the creatures feel more like a parasitic entity than the traditional tale we know.

The unique ways in which this show re-contextualises the mythos would work exceptionally well on the big screen. There is a wealth of potential for fantastic cinematic moments, and it could continue to bring vampires back into mainstream popularity.
