Throughout the episode, a mysterious General is often mentioned. Could it be that Supergirl's big bad is General Zod? Er, no. The final few minutes of the pilot still deliver a pretty major twist though when it's revealed that Kara's aunt is very much alive and has absolutely no problem killing her niece in order to protect her quest to take over the Earth. The unnamed General is played by the same actress who plays Kara's mother (Laura Benanti) in the series, so is clearly Alura's twin. Kara's aunt doesn't exist in the comic books, so this scene doesn't have the same impact as The Flash pilot's big Reverse-Flash reveal. Regardless, some interesting details about her motivations are still revealed. She hated her sister for stopping her from taking over Krypton and imprisoning her in the Phantom Zone, and has been plotting for years to take over the Earth. She also views Supergirl as potentially being an even bigger threat than Superman which is why she wants her dead. Are you looking forward to Supergirl?
