10 Hyped 2020 TV Shows ALREADY Cancelled

If you would have asked people six months ago what their most anticipated TV events of 2020 would be then this Game Of Thrones spinoff would have been right at the top of the list, so to have it not happening at all feels like a big turnaround.

The concept, written by Kick Ass and Kingsman writer Jane Goldman, beat four other pitches for Thrones spinoffs to the punch in getting commissioned by HBO for a pilot. Naomi Watts was set to star as "a charismatic socialite with a dark secret", and would head an impressive cast in a story that would have explored Westeros's "Age Of Heroes", the early history of mankind's first entanglement with the White Walkers and Children Of The Forest.

Last month, however, HBO surprised everyone when they announced that they wouldn't be going ahead with the project.

Some observers will suggest that the decision was prompted by the underwhelming response to the original show's final season, but the fact that HBO is still committed to the money-spinning potential of the World Of Ice And Fire would suggest instead that they wanted something more like the original not less.

While Bloodmoon has been dropped, HBO have in its place ordered a different prequel straight to series, one which covers more familiar ground: the Targaryen-based House Of The Dragon. So fans still won't have long to wait for another fix of Westerosi history.
