10 Hyped 2020 TV Shows ALREADY Cancelled

10. The Lost Boys

Tyler Posey Teen Wolf

Aiming squarely at the market that lapped up MTV's angsty reimagining of camp 80s romp Teen Wolf, to the extent of casting that show's lead Tyler Posey, a modern reboot of The Lost Boys would seem to offer the perfect ingredients for the CW network's teen-friendly formula of beautiful young people and supernatural powers.

This new take on the California beachfront vampires would have come from Veronica Mars and iZombie creator Rob Thomas, so you know that it would have included more quotable, quippy dialogue and smartly self-aware characters than some of its CW stablemates.

Thomas also suggested that his version would play with the "Peter Pan imagery" promised by the original movie's title and "sleep all day, party all night, never grow old, never die" tagline.

A pilot was made, directed by Catherine Hardwicke, who already has young adult vampire angst pedigree having directed the first Twilight.

Despite the involvement of such big hitters as Thomas and Hardwicke and the obvious continuing teen appeal of hot young vampires with a recognisable franchise name, the CW passed on the pilot, opening it up potentially to other networks.

Although not completely dead yet, don't expect to see The Lost Boys back on our screens in 2020.
