10 Iconic TV Show Opening Credits You Will NEVER Skip

5. The Simpsons

One of the longest running television shows of all time, everybody knows The Simpsons. Even if you’re not a fan of the show, it’s impossible not to have seen at least one episode. Although the series went downhill years ago, it rightfully became an instant classic cartoon for its relatable family, heart-warming themes and genuinely funny humour.

And one of the biggest staples of the show is its opening credits. The intro in itself is something to look forward to because of three recurring gags which vary each time.

The first is the writing on the blackboard as Bart completes his detention by spelling out out the mischievous things he will not do again. And the tune Lisa plays on her saxophone as she is sent out by Mr Largo also changes on each episode.

But the most distinctive and hilarious part of The Simpsons’ opening theme is the famous coach gag. Constantly filled with silly visuals and cartoonish slapstick, the couch gags have only gotten bigger and crazier over the years, with different styles of animation being incorporated, tv show crossovers and sometimes a mini-storyline being intertwined within the gag.
