10 Iconic TV Show Opening Credits You Will NEVER Skip
6. The Addams Family
The Addams Family opening credits is quintessentially Halloween, complete with deadpan stares and finger snapping. Written and arranged by long time Hollywood film composer Vic Mizzy, it is tune which can somehow be simultaneously hilarious and haunting.
The decision to film the series in black and white supports this ambiance, helping the series age far more gracefully by giving it an even spookier atmosphere.
As the titular family glare at you emotionlessly with their percussive finger-snaps, a gleeful choir sings of the Addams family and all of their characteristics and quirks, all with a few snippets of the odd activities they get up to in their daily lives. It’s comical and surprisingly grand but in the end, you’re laughing with unease.
The original series may have been short lived but it’s a fantastic family horror show, and the awesome theme song is what helped to give the series such a classic status.
