10 Incredible Horror TV Shows With No Jump Scares
2. Hannibal
When a series was announced in 2011 that would adapt one of the scariest characters in film history to the small screen, audiences were polarized. Hannibal Lecter was getting a TV show, and many did not have any faith that it would work after a few failed attempts to recreate the brilliance that was Silence of the Lambs on the big screen.
The new series Hannibal, however, immediately grasped audiences and never let go.
Mads Mikkelsen portrayed a younger and somehow even creepier version of the character that captured your heart with his charm just as quickly as he would eat it.
Following the beginning of a chilling origin of Hannibal, he begins a friendship with FBI special agent Will Graham, who may be the only one who can understand the creepy cannibal and is able to empathize with the deranged killers he chases. This fascinates Hannibal who begins to take advantage of Will’s fragile state of mind to turn him into a killer as well.
The show was critically acclaimed throughout its entire run and is considered by critics and audiences as one of the best horror series, and one of the greatest TV series of all time.
