7. Arrested Development Burger King
I'm sorry, I know it's a parody, but I love Arrested Development so much that I just had to mention their Burger King-flogging antics. Obviously, Mitchell Hurwitz and his dungeon of writers are extremely clever people, so you can bet your bottom (Burger King-funded) dollar that they know how to approach the problem of product placement in a unique and refreshing fashion. What they ended up doing was some sort of product placement Inception. In the midst of 'Motherboy XXX' Carl Weathers spoke with Tobias about setting scenes of his new show Scandalmakers in Burger King, while inside an actual Burger King and having everyone's favourite analrapist wink to camera. The whole spectacle then breaks down the barriers of meta-humour even further by having the narrating Ron Howard agree with Tobias's positive opinion about the home of the Whopper. Much like most of Arrested Development, it's utterly ridiculous, and utterly hilarious to boot. Indeed, unlike most entries on this list, this was a shameless plug that was all the more endearing for being shameless, but still, I'm willing to bet someone wanted a bacon double cheeseburger after watching these tongue-in-cheek scenes. Hell, I certainly was remember, it is a wonderful restaurant.
