10 Insane Rules TV Shows Weren’t Allowed To Break

5. He Wouldn't Even Hurt... A Pigeon? - Spider-Man

The 1994 Spider-Man animated series is considered to be one of the best superhero animated shows, and with good reason. It was a faithful adaptation of the classic tales featuring Spidey, and handled the characters and arcs with a reverence that was not even found in live-action comic book adaptations.

Despite all this, Spider-Man's action set pieces were a bit wanting due to censorship rules. This meant that punches could not be thrown by characters, breaking windows and fires were seen as taboo, blood could not be shown onscreen, and that the Sinister Six oddly had its name changed to the Insidious Six.

However, none of these rules even hold a candle to the weirdness that is pigeon censorship. For some inexplicable reason, Fox Kids could not show Spider-Man imperilling the bird on screen, and his landing on rooftops could not disturb a group of pigeons.

This request, as amusing as it is, makes one wonder, who would want to show ol' Web-head duking it out with pigeons?
