The Justice League might be DC's foremost superhero team, but they weren't the first. That honour goes to the Justice Society of America, who mad their debut as far back as 1940, and was created by Gardner Fox, Everett E. Hibbard and Sheldon Mayer.

There will be dozens of names fans will recognise from among the team's ranks, but arguably the most famous include Mister Terrific, Hawkman, Star-Girl, Wildcat, the original Green Lantern Alan Scott, Dr. Fate, and even the first Flash, Jay Garrick. They're effectively the Justice League but with a far more unique and not so well known roster of characters to choose from, and with the League having been at the forefront of DC's exploits for decades now, it's high time a different group got the spotlight.

The best thing about the Society, really, is that there are a whole array of different teams and timelines to choose from. A film could set itself during World War II as a period piece of sorts, or take place in the modern day, as the likes of Terrific and Stargirl attempt to reform the team in the absence of the Justice League.

Either way, there's plenty of scope for the Society to work wonders just like they used to, either on film, TV, or maybe even video games too.
