10 Little Known Superhero Teams That Could Make DC Millions
10. Checkmate
Checkmate are actually a division of Task Force X, and if that sounds familiar, that's because it should. Task Force X also house Amanda Waller's Suicide Squad program, but while the Squad pools its resources from the worst the DC Universe has to offer, Checkmate does pretty much the exact opposite, even fielding candidates from DC's meta-human population from time to time.
Despite the relatively brighter visage, Checkmate is just as underhand as the Squad. They're a spy agency formed to handle some of the most sensitive and high-risk operations, and were originally led by the Doom Patrol's Negative Woman, so there's already a link DC could look to exploit in live action.
Given the link to the Suicide Squad, and also taking into account reports that James Gunn's new film will reportedly change the team's roster again (save for Harley Quinn), might it be possible that elements of Checkmate are incorporated? Perhaps so, and with dozens of interesting characters to choose from, it's high time DC revitalised Checkmate for a whole new era, both on the page and off it.
