10 Marvel Superheroes Who Should Join The Defenders

2. Captain Britain

Heralding from Essex (though let€™s not hold that against him), Brian Maddock made his first appearance in the Marvel universe all the way back in 1973. Like Moon Knight, Maddock was given his superpowers after a vicious attack left him barely clinging to life; in this case, he was driven off the side of a cliff by a gang of mercenaries after witnessing a raid on the Darkmoor Research Facility. On the verge of death, Maddock was approached by a powerful wizard and offered the choice to become Captain Britain; he accepted The Amulet of Right, and transformed almost immediately into the titular hero. Later, he would become the roommate of Peter Parker, travel to other dimensions inspired by Arthurian mythology, compete in otherworldly tournaments and form the superhero group, Excalibur. Not bad for a physics student from Essex. How To Introduce Him Captain Britain could really open up the Marvel universe in that he would represent the first non-American based MCU hero. Not only could the character butt heads with the overly patriotic Officer Will Simpson from Jessica Jones, but he could also open up some potentials for storylines that transpire outside the United States. The introduction of Captain Britain also opens up the opportunity for all kinds of other neat stuff to come into play, including the Black Knight, the Otherworld, Merlin, and especially the whole MI-13 plot line.
