10 Marvel Superheroes Who Should Join The Defenders

3. Cloak & Dagger

First appearing in Peter Parker, the Spectacular Spider-Man #64, Cloak and Dagger were a superhero duo with the powers of inter-dimensional travel and psionic attacks respectively. Cloak, a mysterious figure with an insatiable hunger for light energy, forms a symbiotic relationship with Dagger whose powers would otherwise overwhelm her. The two characters have played a significant role in the Marvel universe since their inception, contributing substantially to the Civil War, Secret Invasion and Runaways storylines. How To Introduce Them In the Runaways comics, Cloak & Dagger are manipulated into tracking down The Runaways by their parents, The Pride. Likewise, in The New Mutants series, Clock & Dagger are deceived into trouncing Doctor Strange by the immensely powerful but ultimately forgettable villain, Nightmare. Due to their volatile powers and their utter dependency upon one another, the duo are more susceptible than other heroes to outsider influence, which might be the best way to bring the characters into the fold. Perhaps they€™re influenced by larger forces into going after Iron Fist, convinced that his mystical abilities make him a danger to mankind. Ultimately pawns in a larger narrative, Cloak & Dagger would make for effective gateway characters, capable of introducing a more imperative, imminent and deadly threat.
