10 Mind-Blowing Facts You Didn't Know About Batman Beyond
8. Huntress Was Meant To Appear
Despite the fact Batman Beyond ran for 52 episodes, the iconic sidekick, Robin, was nowhere to be seen. This might be because viewers weren't a big fan of the Boy Wonder in Batman & Robin. However, the studio still wanted Batman to have a sidekick - but only if she was female.
Batgirl was the obvious choice but the producers wanted to use a character that hadn't yet been adapted from the comics and so, opted for Helena Bertinelli.
In the comics, after a group of gangsters murdered her parents, Bertinelli dedicated her life to destroy all organised crime in the city. She even briefly worked as Batgirl but had a falling out with Batman, causing her to take on a new alias - Huntress.
Huntress and Terry McGinnis seem like a perfect fit. Considering Terry regularly tries to uncover corporate corruption and Huntress works in the seedy underbelly of the city, they seem like a match made in Heaven. Since Huntress is the daughter of Bruce Wayne and Catwoman in some timelines, her inclusion in the show could have revealed a secret side of Bruce's past, creating conflict between the characters. Sadly, the writers never figured out how to incorporate her into the story, leaving it until Justice League Unlimited to give the character her full animated debut.
