10 Mind-Blowing Facts You Never Knew About Farscape

It's hard to imagine the show being called anything other than "Farscape" nowadays. In its own way, it has carved a happy little niche into the wall of science fiction television. A niche that may not have been as easy to fit into with the original working title.

A common practice either due to official titles not being decided yet or to intentionally hide the true nature of a project, working titles are nothing new in the film industry. So, when actors began receiving audition materials for a little-known project titled "Far Horizon," no one truly knew what they were possibly signing up for. Though not much more different from the eventual title of the series, the change of Horizon to Scape gives the show a little more universal gravitas.

But even before THAT title, the show's creators, Rockne S. O'Bannon and Brian Henson, had another in mind. Granted, it isn't as intriguing or perhaps eye-catching, but an interesting fact nonetheless. O'Bannon and Henson originally conceived the story under the title "Space Chase" and imagined it with a much larger cast.

Ultimately, the cast was chiseled down to our favorite ragtag team and the producers landed on Farscape. And Scapers around the world cheer they're not called Horizoners or Chasers.
